Strength > Resistance Band Training

As I get older, I have to take extra care of my joints. I have found that stretch bands are easier on the joints than a heavy barbell. Another advantage of bands is that the resistance increases as you move from the weak position near your chest to the strongest position when your arms are outstretched.

A third advantage of resistance bands is their versatility. Bands attached to a bar can be used for both the military press and the bench press. Bands without a bar can be used for lateral and front raises. They can be draped over a pullup bar and pulled down. You can hold them in front of you as you pull your outstretched arms apart. You can pull them back similar to how you would pull on a bow and arrow.

There are many good brands. Here are the particular resistance bands that I've been using:

  1. Heavy bands
  2. Lighter bands

Your health account, your bank account, they're the same thing. The more you put in, the more you can take out. Exercise is king and nutrition is queen: together, you have a kingdom.
